Approach
A good connection is what makes counseling work.
Erin's method is not a script. It starts with the relationship, moves at a pace you agree to, and stays honest about what is helping and what is not.
01What to expect
From first call to finishing well.
01
A free 15-minute call
By telehealth, no charge. You say what is going on in whatever words you have. Erin explains how she works, answers questions about insurance and scheduling, and you both decide whether to go further. Nobody is signing anything on this call.
02
The first sessions: connection first
Erin's main focus is establishing the therapeutic relationship, because a good connection is what makes counseling effective. Early sessions are about history, context, and what steadies you — not about excavating the worst thing you have lived through on day one.
03
Goals set together
You will name what you want different, in concrete terms. Erin works collaboratively on treatment goals rather than handing you a plan, and she works especially well with clients who are focused on those goals and want to complete treatment.
04
The work itself
Strength-based, cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused, drawing on CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy as the situation calls for. The starting assumption is that you already have strengths and coping skills — part of the work is finding them and using them deliberately.
05
Open communication about what is working
Erin will ask you directly which techniques are helping and which are not, and will change course when the answer is 'not that one'. You do not have to be polite about it.
06
Finishing well
Therapy here is not designed to be permanent. When your goals are met, you talk about what maintenance looks like, what your early warning signs are, and how to come back if you need to.
02Methods
The tools Erin brings.
Chosen for the person in front of her, explained plainly, and never used without your agreement.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
An eye-movement approach in the EMDR family. Erin is certified in ART, and it can resolve a distressing memory in as little as one session.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Catching the thought that runs underneath the feeling, testing whether it is true, and building something steadier in its place.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Concrete skills for distress tolerance, emotion regulation and staying in relationship when everything in you wants to leave the room.
EMDR
Bilateral processing for memories that still land in the body as if they were happening now.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Making room for the hard feeling rather than fighting it, and moving toward what you actually value anyway.
Mindfulness-based practice
Simple, repeatable ways to come back to the present moment — used in session and carried into the week.

03What Erin brings to the room
Supportive, compassionate, and present.
Present in struggle and present in progress — the second one matters more than people expect. Erin meets you where you are rather than where a treatment manual says you should be by week six, and she is known for a kind heart that makes an impact with everyone she meets.
"You have taken the first step in creating a healthier, happier you and I would be honored to help you in that journey!"
04What she will not do
No promises she cannot keep.
No guaranteed outcomes, no fixed number of sessions decided before she has met you, and no claim that any single method — including ART — is a certain cure. What she can promise is honest feedback about what she is seeing and a willingness to change the plan.
