Telehealth · Kentucky
Online therapy anywhere in Kentucky, with an office if you want one.
Erin L. Smith, MSPC, LPCC, LPC is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Kentucky, which means she can meet with you by telehealth wherever you are in the state. The only requirement is where you are during each session: physically in Kentucky. If you would rather sit in a room together, the practice's office in Georgetown is available to Kentucky clients as well.
01Kentucky telehealth
What a Kentucky license covers
Counseling licenses are issued state by state, and the state that counts is the one you are in at session time, regardless of your hometown or the address on your insurance card. Erin's Kentucky LPCC license covers telehealth with anyone in Kentucky during the hour, which makes the whole state reachable, from a farmhouse to a city apartment. If you will be away on a session day, mention it ahead of time. Arizona and Minnesota are the other two states where Erin is licensed.
02Kentucky telehealth
When distance is the barrier
For a lot of Kentuckians, the hardest part of therapy is not deciding to go. It is the drive. Long distances, two-lane roads, winter weather, shift work and childcare can turn a one-hour appointment into half a day. Telehealth takes the commute out of it. You can meet from a quiet room at home, a private office at work or a parked car, and be back in your day a few minutes after the session ends. The work itself does not change: relationship first, and goals set together.
03Kentucky telehealth
Kentucky runs on two clocks
Kentucky is split between Eastern and Central time, and the Georgetown office keeps Eastern time. If you live in the western part of the state, an appointment that reads ten o'clock on one calendar may be nine o'clock where you are. When you book through the secure SimplePractice client portal, look closely at the time zone on your confirmation, and check it again after you add the appointment to your own calendar. It is a small habit that saves a scramble on session day.
04Kentucky telehealth
The longest insurance list of the three states
Kentucky clients have the most in-network options. Three plans, Anthem BCBS, United Healthcare and UMR, apply in every state where Erin practices, and three more, Aetna, Humana and Medicare, apply only in Kentucky. Self-pay is welcome at $150 for a 60-minute session. Telehealth benefits vary by plan, so before your first video session, ask your insurer whether a video visit is paid at the same rate as an office visit, and what you will owe each time.
05Kentucky telehealth
In person in Georgetown, if you want it
Telehealth is not your only choice in Kentucky. Erin also sees people face to face at 100 Dunmore Ln in Georgetown. Some choose the office for every session; others simply like knowing it is there. Accelerated Resolution Therapy, the eye-movement approach Erin is certified in, is offered both ways, in sessions of about 100 minutes. The free 15-minute consultation happens by telehealth, so it doubles as a low-pressure trial of talking on a screen.

Questions
Common questions
- Can I have a telehealth session from anywhere in Kentucky?
- Yes. Erin's Kentucky license covers telehealth with anyone who is physically in Kentucky during the session, in a large city or a small town. What matters is where you are at the time, not your home address.
- What if I am traveling outside Kentucky on a session day?
- Talk with Erin before you go, because a counselor can only see you where they are licensed. If you will be in Arizona or Minnesota, where she also holds licenses, telehealth may still work. Otherwise, plan the session around your travel dates.
- Does insurance pay for telehealth the same way as office visits?
- It depends on your plan, which is why it belongs on your list of questions for your insurer before the first session. Erin is glad to help you work out what else to ask so there are no surprises later.
In Erin's words
What she would say if you called today.
Telehealth does not change how I work. We still start with the relationship, we still set goals together, and I still check in about what is helping and what is not. Wherever you are in Kentucky, you can expect me to tell you what I am using and why.
