Telehealth · Arizona

Online therapy in Arizona with a counselor licensed there.

Erin L. Smith, MSPC, LPCC, LPC holds a Licensed Professional Counselor license in Arizona, so people who are physically in Arizona can work with her by telehealth. There is no Arizona office; every Arizona session takes place on a screen, scheduled through her secure client portal. The practice itself is based in Kentucky, which matters for one practical detail worth knowing up front: the clock.

01Arizona telehealth

Licensed in Arizona, seen by telehealth

A counselor may practice only where they hold a license, and the state that counts is the one you occupy during the session. Erin is licensed as an LPC in Arizona, so if you are in Arizona at session time, she can see you. All Arizona sessions are telehealth; the only in-person office is in Georgetown, Kentucky. That boundary is a legal one, not a judgment about whether you would be a good fit. The license is simply what makes this kind of care possible across the distance.

What you can work on from Arizona

The practice's full range travels well by telehealth: trauma, anxiety and depression, grief, OCD, substance use, relationships and the weight of big life changes, along with Christian counseling for anyone who wants faith in the room. First responders are a real focus. Erin is certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and ART is offered by telehealth in Arizona, in sessions of about 100 minutes. She also draws on CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR and mindfulness, chosen for you and explained plainly.

03Arizona telehealth

Mind the time difference

The practice is based in Georgetown, Kentucky, on Eastern time. Most of Arizona does not observe daylight saving time, so the gap between your clock and the office's clock is not the same all year. It shifts in spring and again in fall, when much of the country changes its clocks. The simplest habit is to check the time zone on every booking confirmation, and to look twice at your calendar in the weeks after a clock change. A quick check beats missing a session you were looking forward to.

Insurance in Arizona

For Arizona sessions, three plans on Erin's list are in-network: Anthem BCBS, United Healthcare and UMR. Her other three, Aetna, Humana and Medicare, apply only in Kentucky, so they will not cover sessions while you are in Arizona. Paying yourself is also fine, at $150 for a 60-minute session, and the ART fee is confirmed at your consultation. Call your insurer before the first session to confirm that your plan treats Erin as in-network for outpatient mental health.

If you split the year with Minnesota

Erin holds licenses in both Arizona and Minnesota, which opens a possibility for people who live part of the year in each. Because licensure follows where you are during a session, therapy can continue whether you are in Arizona for the cooler months or back in Minnesota for the summer, provided you are physically in one of her three licensed states when you meet. Travel days in between are worth planning around. Mention your seasons on the consultation call so scheduling can account for them.
